Tasting notes:

  • Intense ruby red color and fine tear.
  • Intense and complex aromas, with elegant nuances of aging, with notes of fresh fruit combined with hints of spices and vanilla.
  • In the mouth it is tasty, well-structured and well-balanced. It is elegant, with very good concentration of fruit, ample and persistent, notes of roasted, fine vinillas, balsamic and red fruits stand out.
Elaboration and Ageing

Made from the Tempranillo variety (90%) and a small percentage from the Graciano variety (10%).  The grapes come from old vineyards aged between 25 and 40 years. Manual harvest in boxes of 12kg. Once in the winery, the grapes are kept for 24 hours in refrigerated chambers at a temperature of 4-6ºC. Afterwards, the grapes pass through selection tables where, from each cluster, the tips of the shoulders are separated. In this way the wine is elaborated, only, from destemmed shoulders, that is to say of the superior part of the cluster more exposed to the sun and therefore, more mature. As for the vinification, the fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks and tubs of French oak of 7000 liters.  Finally, it is aged for 25 months in new French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels.


Fernando Remírez de Ganuza is one of the greatest experts in vineyards throughout La Rioja. His practical sense together with his deep knowledge of Rioja's vineyards have turned him into a winemaker obsessed with quality, whose fundamental principle is to emphasise the age of the vine and the pedigree of the vine. Its success is based on the vineyard it owns, with vines ranging in age from 30 to 90 years and on the revolutionary winemaking methods with which it separately vinifies the upper part of the lower part of the bunch.
