From Bodega de Hermanos Sastre, a Chateau in the Ribera del Duero, Severiano Sastre was the pioneer in this great project and in the 1950s he produced the first wines in the underground cellars of La Horra. His philosophy is clear: elaborate a limited production with unlimited care. The pampering for the pampering. From the beginning, organic farming was chosen, expressly renouncing all types of mineral fertilizers and herbicides.
Intense cherry colour, with purple edges, well covered. On the nose it is powerful and complex, with notes of red fruits, liquorice, violet and undergrowth with a slight mineral note. On the palate it has a good body, with noble tannins, present but silky, young but long-lived. Well-integrated fruit, a round palate and a broad and very persistent finish wrapped in aromatic herbs give it a class that is difficult to match.
Acos is the name of a small hill in the heart of the Ribera del Duero. A terroir of exceptional conditions, whose sixty-year-old vines have produced grapes for some of the best wines of the Viña Sastre winery for generations.
In 2006 it was decided to publicize this plot and vinify it separately. The best care was used and the best French oak barrels were purchased from three different producers, with the aim of highlighting the land of Acos and achieving the high-end wine that they knew it was capable of producing.
Ageing: 14 months in French oak barrels.
