Tasting note
- Colour: Cherry Red
- Aroma: Fragrance, discretion and aromatic complexity. Incisive fruitiness, concentrated and creamy, brimming with aromatic registers.
- Mouth: Opulent, corporeal and straight on the palate, with a firm structure, structure, vivacity, balanced acidity and juicy tannins that invite you to enjoy it.
Development and Aging
- Grape: Tempranillo (94%) and Syrah (6%)
- Aging: 15 months in French and American oak of different ages.
- Vintage: A wet winter allowed the vines to accumulate enough water reserves for a warm and slightly dry spring. July and August were cool with low minimum temperatures. The rise in heat in September, with a bright start to autumn and sporadic storms, allowed harvesting between September 15 and October 7, distinguishing the profile of a vintage without vegetative stops in which alcoholic and phenolic maturity coincided.
The Winemaker: Mariano García
The name of Mariano García needs no introduction. He is, without a doubt, one of the most important oenologists in Spain: after gaining experience working for thirty years in Vega Sicilia, he later established himself with his projects as an independent viticulturist, the Mauro winery -in Castilla y León-, Maurodos -in Toro – and Aalto, in the Ribera del Duero. With these backgrounds, the premiere of a new vintage of the wine signed by García is quite an event.
Mauro is one of the most reputable wineries in the Spanish wine sector. It is a red that has established a style for its authenticity, personality and character. With a predominance of Tempranillo, it is exuberant and at the same time smooth, with hints of ripe and very expressive fruit, without edges. An essential reference wine in Spain.
