Vineyards

Today, the entire essence of Bodegas Fin de Siglo still rests in the vineyards, with 45 hectares of its own plus ten others over which it exercises absolute control. Both red (Garnacha, Tempranillo, Mazuelo) and white (Viura, Malvasía) varieties are grown there, all of them native to the Rioja AOC.

It should be noted that a significant part of the vineyards are very old, with Garnachas of 80 and even more than 100 years old. They are old, older vines, which play their role without haste in order to offer a low yield production from which only the most suitable grapes are selected, around 3,500 Kg/ha (the Regulatory Council allows a production of up to 6,500 Kg/ha).

Bodegas Fin de Siglo controls the entire winemaking process, from the vineyard to its expedition in the winery. All the phases of the culture are supervised until its harvest, the pruning in each plot is taken care of, its ploughing and treatment, as well as the control of the optimal point of maturation of the clusters, harvesting of manual and selective form and obtaining as result a grape of great quality. All stages of winemaking in the winery are also controlled, with full traceability.

Climate

In Rioja Alta, the Atlantic climate and the clay-lime, clay-ferrous and alluvial soils predominate. Its microclimate, its gentle topography and the characteristics of the land identify this area as an ideal place for the production and ageing of quality wines. The grape provides here balanced wines, of attractive colour, elegant aroma, stable, especially indicated for ageing.

La Rioja Alta

Of the three subzones that make up the DOCa Rioja, the Rioja Alta concentrates almost half of the total vineyard of this Denomination of Origin. It stretches across the territories between Haro and Logroño, south of the River Ebro, a region where wine has been one of the main economic drivers since the 15th century.

Within the Rioja Alta, Bodegas Fin de Siglo are located in the Najerilla Valley, a tributary of the Ebro which is the longest and most abundant river in La Rioja. In addition to the cultivation of the vine, it is an area marked by the influence of the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago, which crosses it.
