The first vines were planted on the ?La Revilla' estate in 1985. The first vintage, Valtravieso Crianza 1994, surprising in character and quality alike, was launched on the market a decade later, in 1996. Valtravieso's small-scale production carried on year after year, bearing its fruits, although 2002 was the year the winery truly took-off as a business. That year, the winery was acquired by the Gonzalez Beteré family who implemented an innovative project: the ?New Valtravieso'.
The new Valtravieso Project adheres to the following philosophy: ?Make the most of the resources nature has to offer to obtain some great wines in La Ribera Del Duero'. In order to achieve this goal, traditional production methods were combined with state-of-the-art technology. A new winery was built, which opened its doors in 2007 with increased capacity, improved means of production and the creation of large working spaces to cater for the genesis of high quality vintages. Valtravieso now has very modern facilities, with a total surface area extending over 4500 m2, and a 73-hectare vineyard which is divided into four vineyard terrains: La Revilla, Santa Maria, El Buey and El Obispo.
