What is the sale to the advanced or Primeur?Buying a la avancée - also known as en primeur - means buying wine that is still maturing in the barrels and has not yet been bottled.
The best châteaux in Bordeaux and the best wineries in Spain offer most of their wines for sale en primeur. As a result, this is the first opportunity to buy the new vintage.
Why buy Primeurs? The advantages of buying Primeurs are:
- Buying the wine at the first price when the margins of wine merchants are the smallest. In most vintages, although not always, the price of the wine increases and the merchants' margins also increase once the wine is offered for sale in the bottle.
- Secure allocations of hard-to-find wines and varied formats (half bottles, magnums, double magnums, imperials and even larger) as soon as they are available for purchase.
- To ensure the perfect origin by owning the wine from its first release.
Amancio comes from one of the most renowned estates of Viñedos Sierra Cantabria: La Veguilla, with vineyards that naturally only produce 2 or 3 bunches in a harvest carried out in a very traditional way and with a meticulous maturation. In Marcos Eguren's own words, it is "an emblematic family vineyard with all its complexity and elegance and a tribute to my great-grandfather, who had a very modern and even playful vision of working in the fields". The 2016 vintage scored 96 points for Peñín
