Secastilla is an excellent, complex and different red wine. It is a single varietal Garnacha that offers the purest expression of this variety and of mountain viticulture. Its grapes come from very old vines planted in the Secastilla valley. Its vineyards are planted at an altitude of 700 metres, on sandy-loam slopes. Harvesting is carried out by hand, with a first selection of grapes in the vineyard itself and a second on a sorting table.
TASTING NOTES:
Sight: Intense, deep and bright cherry red colour.
Nose: Powerful, deep and complex aromas with notes of acid red fruit and cocoa powder.
Palate: In the mouth it is fresh, sweet and well structured. Fine tannins with a long, intense and fruity aftertaste.
APPELLATION OF ORIGIN: Somontano.
WINEMAKING: Made from 100% Garnacha grapes.
AGEING: Aged for 10 months in new French oak barrels.
CURIOSITIES: Viñas del Vero owes its name to a river in the Somontano region, the Vero River, famous for its ravines, gorges and canyons. The Viñas del Vero winery was established in Somontano at the end of 1986 with the acquisition of 550 hectares of land in Barbastro and other nearby towns. In 1987 the land began to be replanted with vines of the region's traditional varieties (Tempranillo, Moristel, Garnacha and Macabeo), together with others from different origins (Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir).
