Tasting notes:- Color: Vivid cardinal tones raised with purple tones, which highlight an excellent layer. Clean and bright.
- Nose: Clear aromas of ripe black fruit of blueberry, with elegant concentration of Chinese ink, typical of a wine from silica plots of old vineyards in glass, in balance with shades of black chocolate with spicy tones of clove, wood and clean leather, from its long stay in French oak barrels of soft toasted.
- Palate: Excellent skeleton of lively sweet tannins, in harmony with the freshness of the acidity that highlights a fine black fruit, among elegant roasted, soft spices, with elegant finish, intense and persistent, with mineral background and light smoked, of great complexity.
Elaboration and Ageing:
Valdelosfrailes reserva only makes the best vintages from grapes specially selected from the oldest vines in the glass. The selection is made in the field, in a careful harvest in boxes and in the winery before the whole grape is vatted, where it macerated cold before fermentation at a controlled temperature providing a great aromatic complexity with a contained tannic load. After fermentation it is transferred to new barrels where it carries out the malolactic fermentation. The wine undergoes a long minimum ageing of 14 months in new barrels. It is rounded off in the bottle for at least another two years.
The vineyard is located near the Valdelosfrailes winery in Cubillas de Santa Marta at an altitude of 740 metres. The entire surface is occupied by the Tempranillo variety. Las Costanas is one of the most special vineyards of Bodega Valdelosfrailes, it surrounds the Bodega and its grapes are very appreciated there.
