What are Futures?Buying Futures – also known as en primeur – means purchasing wine that is still maturing in the barrel and has not yet been bottled.
The top chateaux and Bordeaux and the top wineries in Spain offer the majority of their wines for sale as Futures. As a result, this is the first opportunity to purchase the new vintage.
Why buy Futures?
The advantages of buying Futures are:
- To purchase wine at the first release price, when the margins made by wine merchants are the smallest. In most vintages, although not always the case, the price of the wine increases and the margins made by wine merchants also increase once the wine is offered for sale in bottle.
- To secure allocations of hard to find wines and varying formats (half bottles, magnums, double magnums, imperials and even larger) as soon as they are available for purchase.
- To ensure perfect provenance by owning the wine from its first release.
Almirez is a new great success of the Eguren Family, with the expressiveness and elegance characteristic of the wines produced by this family. Its previous vintages have obtained repeated high scores in a consecutive manner, making it one of the most regular Toro wines. We hope that this vintage will also obtain high marks from the critics.
Produced 100% Tinta de Toro, it is a concentrated wine, full-bodied, elegant and powerful, and at the same time fresh and fruity. A wine that never disappoints, to have always at home.
Tasting Notes (for 2018):Deep cherry color.
On the nose it gives off aromas of ripe red fruits, spicy touches and cocoa, all of good intensity.
In the mouth it has a fruity passage, well integrated tannins, good acidity and a medium intensity finish.
Elaboration and aging:Almirez is made from grapes from our own vineyards of between 15 and 35 years old located in Valdefinjas and Toro. Harvesting is carried out in the second week of October, and is exclusively manual with a rigorous selection of the fruits that are in optimum sanitary conditions and ripening in the vineyard and in the winery by means of a selection table. Aged for 12 months in 30% new French oak barrels and 70% in 1 wine barrels.
Curiosities:The Teso la Monja winery belongs to one of the most prestigious winemaking groups in the Spanish wine scene. Grupo Eguren was created after the sale of Bodega Numanthia Termes to the number one luxury company: Louis Vuitton, Moët, Hennessy.
The Eguren family resumed their work in search of another wine from Toro with the resources that this sale produced, this being the great result.
