Baigorri Finca la Canoca is a structured, flavoursome and fresh red wine, which appeals for its absolutely unique style. It is made from Tempranillo grapes from a vineyard planted in 1960, in goblet and unirrigated; located in the Sierra de Toloño at more than 600 metres above sea level, on clay-limestone soils and facing north-south. This wine is made in the traditional way.
TASTING NOTES:
Sight: Intense cherry red colour.
Nose: Aromas of fresh forest fruits and aromatic herbs in excellent balance, together with hints of tobacco, smoke and liquorice.
Palate: Tasty and round on the palate. It has a good balance between the tannins provided by the elegant French oak and the grapes themselves. Elegant and persistent finish.
APPELLATION OF ORIGIN: Rioja.
WINEMAKING: Made from 100% Tempranillo grapes.
AGEING: Aged for 8 to 12 months in French oak barrels.
CURIOSITIES: In its development, all the steps that make up the traditional winemaking process have been questioned, and in each of them an architectural response has been found, avoiding the use of mechanical means that could damage the grapes and optimising all the production phases. This is why we can say that this oenological project is unique. The architecture plays a decisive role in the winemaking process, in contrast to other wineries designed by great architects, in which their intervention was subordinated to a more aesthetic level.
