Development and Aging 100% Tempranillo from our vineyards located in the municipality of Haro in the heart of Rioja Alta.
We choose only those bunches with the best levels of maturity, which were brought to the winery in 20 kg boxes.
A traditional vinification was used, with destemming, light squeezing and fermentation in tanks.
At the beginning of 2020, the wine was transferred to American oak barrels, where it matured for 16 months. The wine was racked three times using traditional gravity methods.
Curiosities: during the 80s
the Martínez Lacuesta Special Reserves they became known as the
wine of Kings and Popes , since our wines were served at all trips and at most gala dinners, visits by foreign leaders or at Christmas. This is attested to by numerous official lunch and dinner menus as well as commemorative labels from those years: trip to Santiago de Compostela by his SS Juan Pablo II in 1982, trip to Spain by his SS Juan Pablo II in 1989, trip by SS.MM. the Kings of Spain to Bangkok and many others.
