In the last years of the 50s, Moet & Chandon, the LVMH group, Latin America sent its Chief Winemaker, Renaud Poirier, to investigate the potential of the region to produce wines of international quality. After touring the area, Poirier visited Luján de Cuyo, in the province of Mendoza. Very impressed by the conditions of the region and the presence of unique high elevation vineyards, Poirier and Moët & Chandon decided to launch its first vineyards outside France.
