Catena Chardonnay is a white wine that stands out for its unique character, excellent typicity, balance and concentration. Made from Chardonnay grapes selected from four historic vineyards in the area. This wine is the result of many years of research into the different high altitude microclimates of Mendoza. It is a wine that can already be enjoyed, but also has good cellaring potential.
TASTING NOTES:
Sight: Intense greenish yellow colour.
Nose: Aromas of white stone fruit with lively floral notes and a strong mineral touch.
Palate: In the mouth it has a marked and refreshing acidity, with a long and persistent citrus aftertaste. It also has an unctuousness that gives it body and structure.
APPELLATION OF ORIGIN: Mendoza.
WINEMAKING: Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes.
AGEING: Aged for 6 to 8 months in new French oak barrels.
CURIOSITIES: Catena wines are the result of special blends from different vineyards of the Catena family, elaborated by Laura Catena, fourth generation winemaker, and Alejandro Vigil, Chief Winemaker of Catena Zapata. Although Catena wines can be consumed at the time of release, they have proven to have a wonderful cellaring potential of ten to twenty years. After several decades of study and research of Mendoza's different high altitude microclimates, the Catena family has identified the best areas for planting the family's vineyards.
