Bodegas Vivanco is located in Briones, a privileged enclave in La Rioja Alta, in the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria and on the banks of the Ebro River. An area with a mild microclimate and extraordinary clay-limestone soils.

Around the winery we find the Finca El Cantillo, which receives its name from the amount of pebbles in the ground. Tempranillo is the fundamental variety, but not the only one. In this vineyard we can also find other varieties that we use in our wines: Graciano, Garnacha, Mazuelo, Viura, Malvasia, etc.

The cellar, which is underground, is functional and aesthetic. The building was made under the ground with the aim of eliminating the smallest possible part of the vineyard and to minimize the environmental impact in favor of the conservation of the landscape. By building the underground winery, we also managed to favour naturally balanced temperature and humidity conditions all year round, which are essential for the good conservation and ageing of wine in oak barrels or vats.

Rafael Vivanco's pioneering winemaking spirit is reflected not only in his wines, but also in his experimentation and research into different cultivation and winemaking methods, the use of minority varieties and ageing in oak from various sources.
