Production
In 1876, Tsar Alexander II was already a big fan of Louis Roederer Champagne and Louis Roederer asked if he could take a step further and produce for personal consumption, a unique wine in quality and bottle. Louis Roederer offered to create an exceptional white crystal bottle of the best selection of the 7 best vineyards of his estate.
This wine is produced only in a "great year" when the maturity of the Pinot noir grape Chardonnay and allow the subtle precise balance. It is the most prestigious Champagne region. Precise, silky, balanced and harmonious style with rich, powerful body of high purity and an incredible capacity improvement over time. Elaboration Made with Pinot noir 55%, 45% Chardonnay, 20% of mature wines in oak barrels without malolactic fermentation. Cristal is produced using harvests from the best vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs. The wines undergo an average of 5 years maturation in cellars and rest 8 months after disgorgement to perfect its maturity. The dose of between 8 and 10 g / l is adapted to each era. Harvest An extraordinary year that brought together all the factors that make a big Champagne: temperatures remain high without excessive heat or sun preceded by a mild winter and a reduction in rainfall (around 20%) during the cycle growth, cool nights with dry north-east cold, wind from August to September. These exceptionally favorable conditions combined meant that the grapes ripened perfectly and the flavors were well focused. The harvest began on 12 September Chardonnay, with an average sugar concentration above 11% natural alcohol. Tasting Notes A delicate, intense wine that reveals a precise combination of nectar from flowers, cocoa, toasted hazelnuts and candied fruit citrus. The texture is infinitely silky, concentrated and tasty, with an explosion of ripe fruit, red fruit, white chocolate, caramel and Crystal typical pastries. It is a powerful and elegant wine, with a "crescendo" of sensations that achieves true harmony of flavors and seamless integration. The finish is fresh with a bitterness that almost gives the wine sharpness. Food pairing Scallops, caviar, smoked salmon, lobster, rhubarb, crab, oysters with champagne sabayon, raw fish marinated
