Retuerta Abbey Farm occupies a large area of over 700 hectares and its name comes from the union of two words that define and describe the territory: Rívula (bank / shore) and cake (tortuous, curved) .The over 204 hectares of vineyards they are distributed over a set of slopes from a maximum height of 850 meters down to the south bank of the river Douro. We have a variety of soils which are represented most large vineyards in the world and the most advanced technology (weather stations, antihelada towers?) The total area of the vineyards is 204 hectares out of a total of 700 hectares of land. 75% of the farm is planted with Tempranillo, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and a small amount of Syrah and Petit Verdot. It disponde technology to control at all times the status of the plant, so that each crop is able to obtain the highest quality, maintaining the characteristics of each vintage. The winery: Designed by famous French enologist Pascal Delbeck in 1996, Abadía Retuerta winery is a surprising combination of tradition and modernity, recognized as one of the most advanced wineries in Europe. It occupies an area of 10,000 m2 and it limited production wine is made, as the quality over quantity is premium.
